Abstract

This study focuses on the development of Economic and Management Sciences educators in Mamelodi Secondary Schools. Economic and Management Sciences educators in Mamelodi will be able to develop by attending educator developmental programme/courses. This study would like to investigate whether Mamelodi Secondary Schools educators in the Department of Economic and Management Sciences have access to information pertaining to educator development programmes/courses. Education in the democratic South Africa is regarded as an important sector which is concerned with the production of the intangibles. The development of the country is indirectly affected by the standard of education and the type of subjects or learning areas offered at our schools, as well as the quality of available educators. Hence it is of important for educators to develop themselves by attending educator development workshops or courses. It is the responsibility of the Education Ministry to encourage and motivate educators to attend educator development programmes, by introducing development strategies. Development strategies are action taken, used or applied to achieve major objectives in teaching and learning institutions. This study will help the Education Ministry to change and or formulate proper and relevant educator development programmes for the benefit of primarily educators, learners and the schools in general.
