Abstract

The initial utilization and calibration of the Dynamic Cone Penetrometer (DCP) for road pavement evaluation by the TPA Roads Department is discussed. The graphic representation of measurements are also illustrated. Following, the development of behaviour parameters and concepts such Strength-Balance as Pavement Structure Number, Pavement and Load Sensitivity as determined with the DCP are discussed. Finally a DCP Design Model and other practical applications of the DCP is suggested.
Die aanvanklike in gebruikneming en kalibrasie van die Dinamiese Kegelpenetrometer (DKP) vir padplaveiselevaluering deur die TPA Paaiedepartement word bespreek. Die grafiese voorstelling van metings word ook illustreer. Verder word die ontwikkeling van sekere plaveiselgedragparameters en -konsepte soos Plaveiselstruktuurnommer, Plaveiselsterktebalans en Lassensitiwiteit soos bepaal met behulp van die DKP bespreek. Laastens word 'n DKP-Ontwerpmodel en asook ander praktiese toepassings van die DKP voorgestel.
