Abstract
The importance of further research on the susceptibility of wild hosts to Cowdria ruminantium infection is discussed. The literature is surveyed and an attempt is made to divide the various species described into susceptible and refractory hosts. The reasons or the numerous apparently conflicting reports are considered and it is suggested that those making further inquiries in this field of work take these factors into account.
