Abstract

The current model of provision of sexual and reproductive health services to the youth in Kenya is challenging as it lacks confidentiality and is associated with a lot of stigma. These leads to the reluctance of the youth to utilize the sexual and reproductive services at the health facilities. Youth friendly sexual and reproductive health services are defined as “services that are accessible, acceptable, equitable and appropriate to meet the sexual and reproductive health needs of young people aged between 10–24 years. Youth comprise nearly half of the world’s population, importantly, youth undergo adolescence, a transitional period where they begin expressing and experimenting their sexuality, youths are therefore left vulnerable to multiple sexual and reproductive health problems. Hence, a working model for the provision of youth- friendly sexual and reproductive health services provided in a welcoming environment is required.
