This study focuses on the relation between the work stress perceptions of Grade 3 teachers and the theoretical explanations of work stress. According to the data gathered from the teachers, there are significant links between the work stress perceptions of Grade 3 teachers and the theoretical explanations of work stress specifically included in this study. Recommendations are made based on the findings of the study, as well as secondary notable information. Aspects that limit the results and findings of the study are listed and briefly discussed. In addition to this, Kinman and Jones (2005) assert that stress does not exist in a vacuum and thus cannot be studied by extracting the individual from his or her cultural and social context. It was therefore essential to investigate a specific group of employees with a qualitative approach in order to determine whether the theoretical explanations of work stress relate to the individuals experiencing the work stress themselves.en_ZA
