This wheel-turned red clay wine jar was modelled after a bronze wine vessel called a Hu. It is decorated with concentric bands and two T’ao-t’ie monster heads shaped as handles in relief on the sides. The jar is covered with a dark brown to yellow brown glaze with slight green iridescence on the handles and a rich red-brown glaze on the inside of the jar. The jar has a flat, unglazed and unmarked base.en_ZA
