Abstract

My dissertation concerns the transformation objectives of the piece of legislation regulating the South African credit industry at present, the National Credit Act 34 of 2005 which, together with enactments such as the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 forms part of a raft of post-Constitution legislation aimed at the protection of consumers and making financial services, including credit, more accessible to the broader South African population, particularly lower-income earners and previously disadvantaged persons.
