Abstract

A specific analysis of the work of Søren Kierkegaard pertaining to the freedom of making choices shows that the later tradition of phenomenology and existentialism can be judged in terms of their relevance to this aspect of Kierkegaard's work. In this regard the ideas of the early founders of the discerning movements (Brentano, Husserl, Jaspers and Sartre) are examined.
