Description
Clinical history : A 56-year old woman with Hashimoto's disease (chronic thyroiditis) since 1973 developed haematemesis in 1977 necessitating mesocaval shunt operation.
A liver biopsy showed signs of primary biliary cirrhosis and the patient developed CREST syndrome (a form of systemic sclerosis) and died with signs of liver failure.
Autopsy findings : 1. Primary biliary cirrhosis.
2. Bronchopneumonia.
3. Scleroderma.
4. Sjorgen 's disease.
5. Hasimoto 's disease.
Diagnosis: Primary biliary cirrhosis
