Abstract
Description
Clinical history : A male baby with birth weight of 5lb 1 ounce was in a good condition after birth; it became progressively more cyanotic and died 42 hours later.
Autopsy findings : 1. The pleural surface of the lungs was smooth but dark red in colour; the cut surface also dark red and with fleshy appearance.
2. Interstitial haemorrhages in myocardium.
3. Diffuse fatty change in liver.
Diagnosis: Hyaline membrane disease
