dc.description.abstract | An experiment comparing critical slaughter results with egg count data collected ante mortem is described. Haemonchus contortus was prevalent from December to April; Ostertagia spp. from October to December; Trichostrongylus spp. from July to August. No obvious trends were discernible either with Oesophagostomum columbianum or Nematodirus spathiger, although larval stages of both species were plentiful from mid-summer to autumn. Strategic dosing is recommended in October, December and April. | en_ZA |
