Abstract

Drawings of the front door of the Koopmans De Wet House on Strand Street in Cape Town, made by John Fassler from measurements by F.M. Glennie and V.S. Rees Poole for prof. Geoffrey Pearse's book "Eighteenth Century Architecture in South Africa". See page 41 for a description, and Plate 28 for the drawing, which depicts the elevation, plan, woodwork details and brass door furniture. The door is flanked by teak pilasters, and topped by a fanlight with a lantern in the centre. Here, the architect Thibault was influenced by the Louis XVI style of France.
