Abstract

For decades Africa has been the forgotten continent. Over the last decade however with economic turmoil, Africa with its rising political stability and education levels has quickly become a place for investors to consider. This study wishes to look into the role of foreign direct investment in developing the people of the continent. Does foreign direct investment help develop people and the continent’s literacy rates? Do governments implement the correct policy to oversee this process? Do the multinational corporations in these countries try to develop these nations or are they only there to maximise profit as much as they can. These important topics, which are vital to Africa’s future growth, are analysed in this paper.
