Dissertation (MSc (Wildlife Management))--University of Pretoria, 1988.
The vegetation of the Verlorenvalei Nature Reserve is differentiated in two vegetation units namely wetland and grassland. The two vegetation units are classified in respectively two (wetland) and seven (grassland) plant communities by means of the BraunBlanquet table method. Detrended Correspondence Analysis (DECORANA) ordination of the plant communities confirms the classification of the communities. The classification of the communities into variations is not confirmed by the DECORANA ordination. DECORANA is also used to interpret the environmental factors characteristic of the plant communities. The classification and ordination data serve as base for a practical management plan for the Verlorenvalei Nature Reserve.
