Description
Clinical history : A 3-year-old female child was admitted into hospital for gastro-enteritis
and discharged after treatment.
She was re-admitted a week later due to coughing and was feverish; a skin rash was diagnosed as measles.
Rapid respiratory movements, high fever and crepitations over both lungs were present.
Inspite of intensive treatment the patient's condition deteriorated.
Autopsy findings : 1. Confluent bronchopneumonia.
2. Fatty change in liver.
3. Staphylococcus aureus cultured.
Diagnosis: Confluent staphylococcus bronchopneumonia
