The study was conducted on free-roaming male impala in the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve. The aim was to obtain information on quality of diet selected during different seasons, to determine intake and to convert this data into estimates of energy requirements which can be used when calculating carrying capacity for impala. These figures were compared to published estimates by Meissner et al (1983).
