Abstract

A box-like cubic structure with a pitched roof: the symmetrical northern façade gives way to irregular form to the south. A deep verandah to the north responds to the Pretoria climate. It has a low-pitched roof with flat gabled ends, very different from the forms of the so-called International Style. He also uses thickly whitewashed stock-bricks. Drawing dated 1-8-35 Double storey, 3 bedroom house. Sketch plan includes: groundfloor, first floor plans and garage plans, all elevations and cross-section through house. Chimney on eastern side of building. North facing verandah. See also 07571.
