INTRODUCTION AND BACKGROUND: Tonsillectomies are frequently performed on paediatric patients. The children are discharged from the hospital after four to six hours of observation for complications. Parents and other caregivers are responsible for the home care of the children. They require extensive preparation on how to prevent and identify complications.
AIM OF THE STUDY: the aim of the study is to evaluate and adjust the paediatric tonsillectomy primary caregiver education in a designated private day hospital according to the contextual and interventional facilitators and barriers of the Consolidated Framework for Implementation Research.
RESEARCH DESIGN: a rapid-cycle evaluation and adjustment of the primary caregiver education (process and material) was done through a qualitative research approach in implementation science. The Consolidated Framework for Implementation Research applied.
METHODOLOGY: during the first round, the quality of current primary caregiver education was evaluated and adjusted according to the output of the analysis. Thereafter the adjusted processes and material were used for a 4-week period and followed by another round of analysis. A final adjustment of the primary caregiver education was done after the second round of data collection and analysis.
SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY: the researcher evaluated and adjusted the paediatric tonsillectomy primary caregiver education used at the designated hospital. |
