Abstract

Photographs depicting a pulpit designed by Anton Anreith, located in the Lutheran Church in Cape Town. The raised pulpit is reached by a flight of stairs, and is topped by a canopy. It is embellished by carved animals, cherubs, swans and two figures of Hercules. It is the same pulpit described on p. 162, and shown in Fig. 191 on p. 168, of the 1960 edition of "Eighteenth Century Furniture in South Africa" by G. E. Pearse. Plate 60 (front and side elevations) and Plate 61 (details) were both drawn and measured by Gordon Leith.
