The JS Cleland archive of the Department of Architecture comprises of personal papers, letters and other autobiographical memorabilia, photo albums and drawings and other records of projects by and pertaining to JS Cleland. The collection resorts in the Archive of the Department.

This collection is extracted from a collection of research material donated by Joanna Walker to the Department of Architecture. This material was collected to inform a thesis that was to be submitted for the awarding of a Masters Degree in Arts at the University of South Africa (UNISA) [not completed].

J.S. Cleland lived and worked in Cape Town from 1902 to 1909 before he moved to Pretoria.
