Abstract:
South Africa’s pursuit of universal health coverage requires contextualised
scientific knowledge to guide the development of health system-strengthening
strategies. Urgent concerted action is needed to strengthen the national health
research system (NHRS), with a view to generating high-quality knowledge and
promoting its utilisation in population health.
