Abstract:
Digital disruption constantly threatens organisations due to the exponential evolution of digital technologies and increased rates of digitisation across all facets of organisations through the adoption of digital capabilities. This digital evolution has increased the necessity for managers to incorporate digital capabilities into their digital strategies. Managers need to have a clear understanding of their organisationÕs digital maturity and how to effectively leverage leadership, innovation and organisational learning in efforts to enhance digital maturity.
The research approach was deductive, and the philosophy employed was positivism. Comparative and multivariate data analysis was conducted on 136 responses from organisations utilising and evolving digital capabilities.
Research findings indicate that digital innovation and managing performance metrics strongly influenced digital maturity. Leadership and learning culture was found to significantly influence the digital organisation and culture aspects of digital maturity. Finally, the knowledge sharing was shown to influence the digital competencies aspect of digital maturity. The findings provide managers with further insights to successfully leverage leadership, innovation and organisational learning to influence digital maturity.
Future research could replicate the results using alternative measurement instruments identified for digital maturity or conduct a longitudinal study to consider how digital maturity changes over time by manipulating the factors identified.
