dc.description Coetzee painted a philosopher's head with a white wig and the well-known triangular motif that he used in his paintings with stellar references. The philosopher depicted here is Sir Isaac Newton (1643-1727) and it is interesting to note again the use of the blue cornflowers in the background which became a feature of many of his 1991 paintings. en_ZA
