dc.description	In this painting of Hermes, the messenger of the gods in Greek mythology is shown partly hidden from the viewer and his face is partially missing - a reference to Hermes as a guide to the underworld. The upper portion of his face is obscured by a veil, symbolic of him being the patron of boundaries and of travellers who cross them. To the right is Hermes' wingéd helmet which helps him to carry messages for the gods.	en_ZA
