dc.description Coetzee married Marjorie Long in 1952, one of his lecturers at the University of the Witwatersrand. They went on honeymoon to Spain and while travelling, Coetzee painted this small study of a Spanish lady. After Marjorie returned to South Africa, Coetzee stayed in Europe for several more months and only returned to South Africa at the end of 1952. en_ZA
