dc.description Two domestic functional traditional Venda pots decorated with iron oxide powder and graphite over a terracotta body and rounded rims. The decorations on the shoulder are traditionally geometric in form and design, with interspersed with graphite. Both vessels are shaped by hand from raw clay to form round bodies, with the one vessel taking on a gourd shape. They are both low fired in an open pit, decorated with ochre pigment and graphite burnished onto the exterior surface for decoration, resulting in a smooth, high gloss undulated surface. en_ZA
