Abstract

Description

This round tin-glazed Delft dish is decorated with floral panels and medallions in the Japanese Imari-style. The dish has a sunken, glazed base marked with “De Porceleyne Fles” mark, the letters “F” and “JX” and the word “Delft” all in underglaze blue as well as the incised letters “WZ”. This dish was made by J Jansen, who started working at De Porceleyne Fles in 1902. During the late 19th and early 20th centuries the designers at De Porceleyne Fles experimented with various different decorative styles, such as this so-called Imari-style dish.
