dc.description This is the earliest work by Bettie Cilliers-Barnard on this exhibition and it will be noted that it is still signed ‘Bettie Barnard’. This rather unconventional portrait shows that the artist had taken note of the Post-Impressionist style supported by the newly formed New Group. This work was completed during the time that Bettie was a lecturer at the “Normaalkollege” in Pretoria. en_ZA
