Abstract

On 26 October 1838 the Voortrekkers held their first 'nagmaal' (Holy Communion) in the Transvaal, and yesterday (30 October 1938) the first church built by the State, designed by Gerard Moerdyk, was opened at Roberts Heights by the Prime Minister, General J. B. M. Hertzog.
