Abstract

This study investigated the effects of eicosapentanoic acid and prostaglandin E3 on osteoclast formation and bone resorption in RAW 264.7 murine pre-osteoclasts. Data obtained suggests an inhibitory effect of these compounds on osteoclastogenesis and bone resorption in the cell line tested.

This abstract was initially presented at the annual Biological Sciences Symposium, presented under the protection of the Suid-Afrikaanse Akademie vir Wetenskap en Kuns. The symposium was held at the University of Johannesburg on 01 October 2011.
