Abstract
This articles investigates the concept ANGER as it is lexicalised in Afrikaans idioms. This is done within the motivation theory of Lakoff and special attention is given to the metaphors that underlie the way in which anger is conceptualised in Afrikaans. In a comparative study of idioms of anger in Dutch and English it becomes clear that Afrikaans uses a separate metaphor not found in the other two languages.
