Mr JA van Tilburg bequeathed his "prentenkabinet" of over 10 000 graphic works to the University of Pretoria. Over 2600 of these works were small sketches and watercolours by the Dutch Impressionist Marinus Pieter Reus, the biggest collection of its kind. MP Reus (1865-1938) lived in Mr van Tilburg’s house in Dordrecht and paid him for rent in small sketches.
Two charcoal sketches by Reus of a man with his hands in his pockets strolling down a lane, a lamp post to his right and a tree to the left. On the back four smoking men sitting in a restaurant is portrayed.
