Abstract

The construction of dams has always been the primary method to ensure adequate water supply in South Africa. The object of this treatise is to determine whether dam construction is still the best method in ensuring water security. Different areas of concern are investigated such as the financial implication, the environmental impact, the positive impact of the economy and alternative methods other than dam construction.
