Abstract
COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: Indigenous cattle of the Simme and Saane valleys of the canton of Bern in Switzerland.
SIZE: Large.
COLOUR: Dark red with white underline and face.
PURPOSE: Dual purpose.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Simmentalers are used dual purpose, for beef and milk. Also popular as maternal or terminal breed in cross-breeding programmes for replacement cows with excellent maternal abilities as well as production of fast growing weaners.

The colour slides have been scanned with a HP ScanJet 5590 scanner; 24-bit true colour, 600 dpi, saved in JPEG-format. Downscaling was done with Adobe Photoshop.
