Abstract

The project report creates a production schedule for a SME manufacturing company in the water purification industry. Even though it involves a specific company it could be adapted to suit any water filtration manufacturer in South Africa as well as another small manufacturing company looking to create an optimised production plan. The purpose of this project is to provide a report to OUTBAC detailing their current as-is state and then highlighting the benefits of a to-be state by implementing a production schedule and EOQ Inventory Model for better understanding of their production system. The research methodology used in this project follows traditional Industrial Engineering methodologies. The project report follows an Operations Research approach, generating a production model and thereafter discussing implementation of the model. This will enable OUTBAC to gain a better understanding of their production process and plan ahead according to expected sales demand and how they can better achieve their operational goals. The models discussed could be used to incorporate all of OUTBAC’s products.
