Abstract

Examines how the nature of monetary policy application has changed in South Africa. Considers the philosophical development of monetary policy and analyzes monetary policy according to the various phases through which it has passed in South Africa since the Second World War. Discusses monetary policy during the past decade, which may be called the Stals era in the history of central bank policy in South Africa.
