Abstract:
Specific purulent nephritis had occasionally been found in post-mortems at the institute. Theiler did some research in 1902 and in 1909 the micro-organism causing this disease was isolated. It was then possible for the first time to give the exact proof that one particular bacillus caused a specific haematogenous nephritis which generally ended fatally.
