dc.description.abstract The trucking industry in South Africa is a crucial component of the economy, contributing significantly to GDP and employment. However, the industry is predominantly male-dominated, with women making up only a small percentage of the workforce. This disparity presents a unique opportunity for women to enter and thrive in the trucking business.Women entering the trucking industry can benefit from the growing demand for transportation services. The South African government offers various incentives and support programs to encourage female entrepreneurs. Success stories of women who have built thriving trucking businesses serve as a testament to the potential within this sector.Despite the opportunities, women may face challenges such as safety concerns and gender discrimination. To overcome these, women can leverage networking and mentorship programs, adopt robust safety measures, and utilize technology to enhance operational efficiency and security.
