Papers presented virtually at the 42nd International Southern African Transport Conference on 08 - 11 July 2024 |
|
dc.description.abstract |
This workshop deals with the fundamental matters that are often given insufficient
attention while executing transport related projects. It is applicable to both young and
experienced practitioners working in a transport related field.
An objective is to illustrate why the start of a project needs more consideration and through
Critical Thinking, which is intended to incorporate the “bigger picture” in all elements and
stages of the design development to ensure the required and appropriate outcomes are
achieved.
For the Young Professional: To see that their role is more than the completion of an
individual task – they need to see and understand where the specific task fits in – see the
bigger picture and ask questions.
For the Professional: To understand the inexperience of the young person – they are
unconsciously incompetent although they would have specific topic knowledge. |
