Abstract:
During the first 40 years of the existence of the Veterinary Faculty at
Onderstepoort, only ten of the nearly 400 graduates were women. Female students had to find alternative accommodation as they could not stay in the hostels. This article looks back at the first female pioneers starting careers in veterinary science at Onderstepoort and where they were accommodated. Many photos and maps are included in this insightful article.
