dc.description Dissertation (MEng(Electronic Engineering))--University of Pretoria, 2023. en_US
dc.description.abstract This research introduces an specific emitter identification (SEI) system to enhance secure transmission systems, addressing a critical gap in existing studies. Existing studies lack a comprehensive solution for authenticating transmitters with high accuracy, particularly in scenarios involving multiple digital codes and various receiver configurations. Utilising signal extraction and a random forest classifier, the SEI system achieves a remarkable 98.6% accuracy for single transmission code authentication and sustains 95.4% accuracy when handling multiple digital codes, distinguishing transmitters, and detecting replay attacks. The system’s adaptability to diverse receiver configurations is explored, emphasising the importance of training receiver characteristics for optimal performance. This research provides a robust and adaptable solution for securing communication systems, contributing to increased trust and security in transmission systems. en_US
