Abstract:
This catalogue features archival photographs related to the work of four Dutch immigrant architects: Mello Damstra, Ed Payens, John van de Werke and Jaap van Niftrik. Their various design works in the C20th South African context illustrate hybridity and international exchanges in architecture and serve as evidence of a unique shared architectural heritage.
The publication forms part of the Tectonic ZA

of Architecture, University of Pretoria, supported
financially by the Netherlands Embassy in Pretoria
through its Shared Cultural Heritage Programme. It
is intended as a companion piece to the the book
