dc.description.abstract This paper will review the South African PPP projects in Rail and Road that were rolled out in the past 15 years. Special attention will be given to the following parameters: • Choosing the best financing mechanisms; • National government capital policy frameworks and the link to sector-strategies on PPP; • Fare collection technologies and strategy; • Role allocation in the development process; • Co-opting the public and dealing with public inputs; and • Lessons learnt. The final part of the presentation will focus on what areas need to be enhanced to ensure effective implementation of future project.
