Abstract:
The scholarly communication landscape went through significant changes, since the first scientific journal was published in 1665. With the international movement to open science and open access publishing, traditional subscription models have been challenged with more complexed business models. Among the biggest challenges of open access, are article-processing charges (APCs). In this presentation, different open access publishing models, as well as issues related to author’s rights, will be discussed. A large part of the discussion will focus on initiatives and support provided by the university and the library to assist the UP research community in making their work available through Open Access publishing.
