| dc.description.abstract | Patients with Cushing’s syndrome often complain about sleep disruption and excessive day time sleepiness, which could contribute to worsening quality of life and metabolic comorbidities (obesity, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, dyslipidaemia) associated with hypercortisolism. Sleep disorders have been shown to increase the risk of developing cardiovascular disease and that the risk of cardiovascular disease in patients with hypercortisolism may be worsened by impaired sleep. Cushing’s syndrome patients may also be at increased risk for obstructive sleep apnea due to their obesity. | en_ZA |
