He was a member of the 1st class of students to graduate from the newly created veterinary faculty at Onderstepoort. He was a staff member at the Onderstepoort Veterinary Institute from 1926 - 1950. Will probably best be remembered for determining with Rimington that the photodynamic agent in hepatogenous photosensitizations (such as geeldikkop and Lantana poisoning) was phylloerythrin, a degradation product of chlorophyll.
