Abstract:
This presentation gives an overview of what Digital Humanities is, its historical development, national Digital Humanities activities, Digital Humanities related projects in South Africa, Digital Humanities tools and what academic libraries are doing with regards to Digital Humanities. It further indicates the links between Digital Humanities, eResearch and Library Carpentry, and also gives examples of aspects of Digital Humanities applied at the University of Pretoria Library. The presentation concludes with a list of challenges and also gives a list of sources on DH for further reading.
