Abstract:
Hereditary angioedema (HAE) is a rare disease that is inherited
in an autosomal dominant fashion. The hallmark of the disease
is the development of spontaneous and recurrent episodes of
angioedema. Importantly, these episodes of angioedema occur
in isolation, without urticaria or pruritis. The disease has no
gender predominance. Left untreated, the mortality can be as
high as 30 per cent.
