Abstract:
General aspects of thermoelectric effects in spin valves consisting of two magnetic layers separated by a nonmagnetic
spacing layer are considered, with the main focus on the spin Seebeck effects. The Seebeck and spin
Seebeck effects are considered in both current-in-plane and current-perpendicular-to-plane geometries. The corresponding
thermopower and spin thermopower in the macroscopic limit of electronic transport are also considered.
Physical origin of the spin effects is discussed in detail.
