This is Essay 3.1 of the Collection of 'Essays on Cognitive Physical Science' in the repository UPSpace of the University of Pretoria.Essay 3.1 is a completely restyled version of Essay 3 ("A Physicist's Model of Mind", hdl.handle.net/2236/50310) aimed at an improved understanding of the author's model of mind by readers from disciplines unfamiliar with the methodology of modelling typical of physical science. Such readers are assisted (p.21) with an analysis of methodologies used in different disciplines. The reader-friendliness of the description of the model of mind is optimised by separating key points of the model from their elaborations. The key points of the model are concentrated in a 'core text' section of Essay 3.1, and their elaborations are undertaken outside of the core text section and/or in separate subsequent essays.Among the key points in the core text section are two new hypotheses not mentioned in Essay 3 (the Threshold Hypothesis of Consciousness, and the Direct Access Storage hypothesis).
